Pulmonary Stenosis Page

Introduction

Welcome to the pulmonary stenosis page. On this page we provide a definition, sample heart sounds and links to the training lessons available on this site.

What is Pulmonary Stenosis?

Pulmonary stenosis, or pulmonic stenosis, is a reduced blood flow from the right ventricle to the pulmonary artery due to a problem with or near the pulmonary valve. It is most often a congenital defect.

Diagnosis

Pulmonic stenosis is often initially diagnosed by auscultation during which a murmur is heard. Other tests will include EKG, echocardiography, MRI, CT and heart catheterization.
